Life is too valuable to spend time not being lighthearted
Life is too important to be taken seriously.
- Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde was a writer, playwright, humorist, satirist,
and astute observer of the human condition.
What does he mean by, "Life is too important to be taken seriously?"
Is it just a simple joke?
"Serious" can mean thoughtful, careful and profound,
but it also can mean unsmiling, grim, and humorless.
I am inclined to paraphrase Wilde as...
Life is too valuable to spend time not being lighthearted.
Your attitude is like a box of crayons that color your world.
Constantly color your picture gray, and your picture will always be bleak.
Try adding some bright colors to the picture by including humor,
and your picture begins to lighten up.
- Allen Klein
Seriousness is a sickness; your sense of humor
makes you more human, more humble.
The sense of humor - according to me -
is one of the most essential parts of religiousness.
- Osho
Smile.
Today would be a wonderful day
not to take life so seriously.
Today may end up the way you prefer -
and it may not.
Happiness is not about being a winner -
it's about being gentle with life -
being gentle with yourself.
Let life be a dance,
and choose the kind of
dance you want for today -
perhaps a gentle loving dance.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Dance lightly with life today and every day.
Life is too short not to be joyful and celebrate each day.

Above All, Avoid Hypocrisy
He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.
- Jesus of Nazareth (John 8:7)
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye;
and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
- Matthew 7:5
The only vice that cannot be forgiven is hypocrisy.

- Hafiz
When you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
I hope you dance.
- Lee Ann Womack
Life is like dancing.
If we have a big floor, many people will dance.
Some will get angry when the rhythm changes.
But life is changing all the time.

Appreciate and Give Thanks
Give Honest and Sincere Appreciation.
- Dale Carnegie
Appreciation is a wonderful thing.
It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
- Voltaire
Beginning today, treat everyone you meet
as if they were going to be dead by midnight.
Extend to them all the care,
kindness and understanding you can muster,
and do with no thought of any reward.
Your life will never be the same again.
- Og Mandino
There is more hunger for love and appreciation
in this world than for bread.
- Mother Teresa
Appreciate and give thanks for all the people who make your life possible.
Think of food: think not only of the supermarket cashier, but also the unseen workers, those in distribution and packing centers, truck drivers, the migrant farmworkers picking your lettuce and strawberries, and so many more.
Think of the doctors, nurses and so many health workers. Think of trash collectors, firefighters, the police, those who support your car or your rapid transit, your electric service, your internet and mobile service, and SO many others without whom your life would be unlivable.
Consider the contrast between the warmth of expressing sincere appreciation and the sinkhole of needing approval. Let others know how grateful you are for their kindness (when it is true), but never depend upon others to validate your own worth.
At the beginning of a relationship
we are attracted to the other person because
we think they are sexy, smart, funny -
whatever it is that we find appealing.
But very quickly, the focus of the relationship
turns to whether we feel appreciated.
If we don't feel appreciated, we don't feel loved.

and a time to every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die.
- Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

- Ron D. Burton
We have an obligation to live in harmony with God's creation.
- Bruce Babbitt
A time for everything: a time to relax and a time to be busy,
a time to frolic and a time to lay up food for the winter,
a time to receive and a time to give,
a time to begin and a time to finish.
A time for work, a time for play -
balance in all things.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie
One has to find a balance between
what people need from you
and what you need for yourself.
- Jessye Norman
The ending of a job or a relationship

Make Your Life A Celebration
Choose to celebrate life.
Celebrate family, celebrate friends, celebrate love, celebrate adventure and discovery.
Celebrate and give thanks for all of life.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Life is what you celebrate. All of it. Even its end.
- Joanne Harris
See that the whole existence is celebrating.
These trees are not serious, these birds are not serious.
The rivers and the oceans are wild,
and everywhere there is fun,
everywhere there is joy and delight.
Watch existence,
listen to the existence and become part of it.
- Osho
You are here to evolve and make your consciousness high
You are here to dance, sing and celebrate life.
You are here to help others to make their life happy.
We are here not to compete, but to learn, evolve and excel.
We are not here to make divisions in the name of prophets and religions.
We are here to encompass the world with love and light.

Easter 2019
Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection,
not in books alone, but in every leaf in spring-time.
- Martin Luther
Guide our feet into the way of peace.
- Luke 1:79
This is what the Lord asks of you: only this,
to act justly, to love tenderly,
and to walk humbly with your God.
- Micah 6:8
The great gift of Easter is hope -
Christian hope which makes us have that confidence in God,
in his ultimate triumph, and in his goodness and love,
which nothing can shake.
- Basil C. Hume
Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.
- Voltaire
Today, Easter, the most Holy day on the Christian calendar, is a day to celebrate our spiritual natures. We are not just bones and flesh, chemicals and electricity, we are beings of Spirit, one with each other and one with the eternity and infinity of Creation.
On this day, let us affirm the core values of unconditional love of all humans and an uncompromising commitment to caring for all who are sick, infirm, or troubled - as expressed in the biblical story of the Good Samaritan. Aspire To Forgiveness And Service
The desire to serve others is the highest impulse of the human heart
and the rewards of such service are beyond measure.
If you wish to taste this, then just do it. Just take one step...
You will see that the tyranny of self-concern, worry, and trivial pursuits
can be released from your life with that single step.
It doesn't really matter what you do, it only matters that you do it.
- Ganga Stone
For me, an area of moral clarity is:
you're in front of someone who's suffering
and you have the tools at your disposal
to alleviate that suffering or even eradicate it,
and you act.
- Paul Farmer
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get.
- from "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts
Helping someone is what life is all about.
- Willie Stargell
The bond of our common humanity is stronger
than the divisiveness of our fears and prejudices.
God gives us the capacity for choice.
We can choose to alleviate suffering.
We can choose to work together for peace.
We can make these changes - and we must.
- Jimmy Carter
If you are healthy, support those who are sick.
If you have a job, support those who have lost theirs.
If you are strong, support those who are feeble of body or mind.

Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
- Matthew 25:40
The ultimate test of a man's conscience
may be his willingness to sacrifice something today
for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard.
- Gaylord Nelson
Jesus preached more and taught more
about helping the poor and the sick and the hungry
than he did about heaven and hell.
Shouldn't that tell us something?
- John Grisham
Let us be protectors of creation,
protectors of God’s plan inscribed in nature,
protectors of one another, and of the environment.
- Pope Francis
The love of money is the root of all evil:
which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith,
and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But thou, O man of God, flee these things;
and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Live an Honorable Life
This above all, to thine own self be true.
- William Shakespeare
[Be true to your own values - live an honorable life.]
Reputation is what other people know about you.
Honor is what you know about yourself.
- Lois McMaster Bujold
Self-respect is often mistaken for arrogance
when in reality it is the opposite.
When we can recognize all our good qualities
as well as or faults with neutrality,
we can start to appreciate ourselves
as we would a dear friend
and experience the comfortable inner glow of respect.
- Osho
If you doubt the virtue in self-honor,
remember what the flight attendant says,
"Put your own oxygen mask on first."
You are of no use to anyone else
if you have not taken care of your own needs first -
this includes your own emotional,
as well as physical, well-being.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me
- Psalm 23
The wise man in the storm prays God,

- Alfred Adler
There is beauty and serenity in the eye of the storm.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Rather than worrying about the continuous stream of potential threats,
let us give thanks for our blessing of living in the eye-of-the-storm -
our protected refuge from the terrors
of fearsome dangers just outside our lives.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Whatever the challenges that actually confront any of us on a given day,
the potential threats are always far greater.
There are always an array of catastrophes overhanging our lives -
wars, terrorists, hurricanes, earthquakes, escaped murderers,
child molesters, and maybe a runaway asteroid.
In comparison with what "could" happen, our lives are rather serene.

If a shepherd has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray,
does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains

And if he finds it, truly I tell you,
he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.

What if happiness were found in the serenity of simple pleasures.
What if we didn't need the newest gizmo... the highest high?
What if happiness is in the air we breathe...
slowly, deeply, and consciously?
What if happiness is one fresh grape, savored with gratitude?
What if happiness is in our oneness with all creation?
What if happiness is about enjoying life exactly as it comes to us -
without chasing after it?

Count your blessings.
Once you realize how valuable you are
and how much you have going for you,

the music will play, and you will finally
be able to move forward the life that God intended
for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence.
