Our prayers are always answered, but often God, or the Universe, knows what is best for us better than we do. Sometimes we are very sure that we know what we want, and what we want seems very important to us. Later in life, however, often we look back at those desires and wonder why they seemed so important at the time, or question why we wanted them at all. For example, in high school there may have been a boy or girl that we would have given anything to date. If only I could be Johnny's girl friend or Sally's boy friend. Later we look at Johnny's face on a wanted poster or hear about how Sally's life turned out and wonder what we ever could have been thinking.
Consider the distinction between affluence and riches. Affluence is a state of mind. I can perceive affluence regardless of my external circumstances. The Universe responds favorably when I request affluence. I receive the feeling of having everything I need. Sometimes I actually receive earthly riches. Always, I receive a satisfied feeling with whatever the Universe deems is best for me. Whether I receive financial gain or not, I truly receive affluence.
Whenever you turn to the power of prayer or to the "Law of Attraction" or to the power of intention, consider making your request more general and less specific. Ask for health, inner peace, love, and affluence, rather than asking for fewer wrinkles, a trip to Hawaii, a hot date, or a new car.
I love the above about "Unanswered Prayers" so much that I e-mailed it to five different people, and made a print of it for myself. Thanks

I wanted to write books and became an accountant. I wanted to sing and became a dancer. I wanted to be free and fell in love...
ReplyDeleteI prayed for wisdom and have no riches. I prayed for health and have no beauty... and I still believe in the power of the prayer because all were answered. You are right, sometimes not the way we want it but the way the universe deemed best for me. I'm so grateful.
Beautiful post. A reminder I needed so much right now. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful reminder!! :)
ReplyDeleteI used to pray to win the lottery, until one day, when someone asked me, "And what do you think that winning the lottery will do for you"? I answered that I thought it might give me security, comfort, and peace of mind. My friend then suggested that I pray asking for those things instead of asking for the money. It was one of the best pieces of advice I have ever received!
ReplyDeleteI also use to think that money and comfort was the way to go , but not now I would pray to help just one person who needed it know matter who they are and give them a hug.

ReplyDeleteOh how incredibly simple and how very wise. Thank you, Thank you
This is an excellent source of "grounding" for my spirit, soul and mind. I hereby make my request known to GOD for affluence!
ReplyDeletethank you, sir! you always inspire me. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteWe make a living by what we do. We make a life by what we give. A blessing will only be a blessing to us if it also blesses someone else.

DeleteALL ABOVE IS SO TRUE. TOMORROW WILL BE 2 YEARS THAT I'VE LOST MY MOTHER TO CANCER. BEING AN ONLY CHILD LET'S ME KNOW THAT IT IS ONLY BY GOD'S GRACE AND MERCY THAT I MADE IT THIS FAR, AND HE HAS A MUCH BETTER FUTURE IN STORE. I BELIEVE WITH ALL MY HEART THAT MY MOM IS WATCHING OVER ME AS IS THE LORD!
ReplyDeleteI AM ANSWERING MYSELF BECAUSE IT'S GOING ON 3 YEARS THATMY MOM HAS BEEN GONE. I'VE GREW UP ALOT BUT STILL HAVING A HARD TIME ADJUSTUNG TO LIFE WITHOUT HER. I KNOW GOD KNOWS BEST BUT I QUESTIONED WHY HE WOULD TAKE THE ONE THING THAT WAS MY EVERYTHING. I'M WORSE NOW THEN 2 YEARS AGO BUT CAN'T SEEM TO SHAKE MYSELF OUT OF THIS RUT. I DO THINK ABOUT ALL THE THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR AND JUST TAKE A DAY AT A TIME. MOM I MISS YOU SO MUCH!
DeleteONCE AGAIN I FIND MYSELF AT THIS QUOTE. 3 YEARS, 7 MONTHS, AND 4 DAYS NOW. I LOST MY JOB OF 13.5 YEARS, UNEMPLOYED NOW FOR 5 MONTHS, HAVE APPLIED TO ANY AND EVERYTHING ONLY TO BE TURNED DOWN BEFORE I CLOSE MY COMPUTER. BEING EVICTED AS I WRITE THIS REPLY. I AM STILL BELIEVING IN GOD TO PERFORM AS HE ALWAYS HAS IN MY LIFE. I'M TRYING NOT TO GIVE UP OR GIVE IN BUT IT HAS BEEN SO HARD. I TAKE A DAY AT A TIME BUT TIME HAS RUN OUT. I AM STILL GRATEFUL FOR MORE NOW THAN EVER BEFORE IN MY LIFE. BEING ALONE AND ON YOUR OWN MAKES YOU SEE THINGS IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT, BUT GOD'S LIGHT STILL SHINES THE BRIGHTEST!
DeleteIt's sad that you lost your mother and know that you are not alone. I know it very difficult to be in that situation and my suggestion is keep praying. You also need to find creative ways to spend time and good books are a source of inspiration. Find books that can help you cope with your situation. And remember you don't have to be alone. The world is full of good people and if you look around you will find them and make them your friends. The Lord will not let a good prospecting heart down. The time will come that you will be lifted out of misery and life will be a living bliss. Keep praying and keep busy with inspiring activities.
DeleteLosing a parent, most.people say it's supposed to be that way. What do you think if it were your mom having lost you and she was still here? How would she cope, how would she react to losing her child, God forbid. If I were you, I would think of why you miss her so much and what it is that she offered to the world that made her so special? I am pretty sure you will soon find out that her power, her presence, her everything still lives on within you. Would she give up? I am pretty sure she would not. Life is too beautiful to throw in the towel and say, "I quit," you will find yoir way if you look at the past and during tough times, what did your mom used to do? How did she cope? Don't worry, everything will be fine, but you have to stop grieving for her now and move on into your next new beginning of your life. Afterall, this is what she wanted...
DeleteIt is very true that when prayers aren't answered, it means something way better is coming your way. Think about it in your own life!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was about 6 years old, I would pray every night for God to protect me. later that night, my 17 year old brother would come in and molest me. It has effected the faith that I would love to have.
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad that your brother molested you and that has had a negative impact on your Faith. However Faith should not be taken as a conditional belief that make things go our way. Faith should be a state of mind that believes whatever bad happens in our life things will be better, especially if we believe in the Divine control. It also requires that we must understand that for our lives to be better we must work on ourselves, to be good, decent and caring people despite what we experience in life, for all things in life I believe are kind of conditional and the good we are the most likely we are to experience a good life. So I guess at the end of the day keep the Faith, work on yourself and I am sure when the time comes you will have a better understanding of it all. God bless!
DeleteGod always hears our prayers but there is a reason and a season for all things according to his will. He knows the end at the beginning. He may allow our prayers to be answered immediately or delayed, or maybe even no which mean yes in his sight accordingto his divine purpose and will. The point is not to figure how he is going to answer. He just want our faith and trust in him according to his word. The word of God says to love him with all thy heart, mind and soul. And do remember this All things work together for the good to those that love the lord.
