How to Deal with Rejection

I take rejection as someone blowing a bugle in my ear to wake me up and get going, rather than retreat. - Sylvester Stallone

To go against the dominant thinking of your friends, of most of the people you see every day, is perhaps the most difficult act of heroism you can perform. - Theodore H. White

Not everyone is always going to like what you do. Your job application, your book proposal, your offer of marriage is going to get rejected sometimes - perhaps often. Your boss, your spouse, even the person behind you in the supermarket checkout line is occasionally going to think that you are doing it all wrong. Don't take it personally.

Deal with rejection by...

1. Asking yourself, objectively, if there is something to be learned about yourself from the experience.

2. Just letting to go. It's their problem, not yours. They probably had an argument with someone else, have heartburn, or are just grumpy and looking for someone to grump at.

  4. To truly reject someone you first have to get to know them. How many times have you really been rejected? Most people don't do the work it takes to really get to know another person, they just know what they like at the time. It's impossible to be "rejected" by these people, just "over looked"---maybe you really got saved:-)!!!

  9. Rejection takes many forms. It could be in relationships, your ideas can be rejected, or at the workplace where you may have believed you did your best. The great lesson I take with me from here is never to take it personally. That way I stand up again soon and focus ahead with renewed thoughts.
